I’ve lived in Southern California nearly all my life, with the exception of a few semi short-lived flings with other metropolitan meccas, (sup, San Fran & New York), and I think I’ve been doing it wrong. For example, before Friday, I’d never been to the Griffith Observatory. Either my parents were seriously slacking when I was a kid or I was majorly taking my hometown and all its glorious tourist attractions for granted. Confession: I’ve also never been to the Hollywood sign, the LACMA, or hiked Runyon. I know, I’m a terrible SoCal resident. But I’m vowing to change that and I hope you’ll embrace this newfound excitement for exploring your own hometown with me.
I think my outlook changed when I was recently in Tulum and found myself exploring the city as a typical tourist would, forgoing my usual smug “live like the locals do” attitude. Sometimes it’s more fun to just be a tourist. I mean, tourist attractions exist for a reason, no?
I hope you enjoy the photos from my recent trip to the Griffith Observatory! Tell me in the comments below where you live and what you’re looking forward to exploring in your own hometown!
